At the FBI offices, Broyles gets a package from Senator Van Horn, with a note that says “I suspect you ignored my orders at the park…maybe this will help.” Senator Van Horn is a wise man. The package contain some photographs of Koslov and some notes that says he was last seen in Russia 28 years ago, and that when he disappeared he abducted his brother from some facility where he was being studied. His brother had been previously in a space mission and returned in a coma, and whatever he brought back with him had the Russians very curious. In communist Russia, you don’t conquer space, the space conquers you! Okay, I’m sorry, but that was too easy. Broyles briefs Olivia on the contents of the documents, and he thinks that Koslov has been moving his brother from hospital to hospital since then. They think the brother might still be in the coma ward at Koslov’s most recent place of employment and immediately get ready to go find him.
Back in the lab Peter is explaining to Astrid that he and Walter were trying to figure out how radiation pertains to the formula. Walter explains that it’s not the radiation that kill you, but that on the other hand, the radiation is what the shadow is after. Basically, the shadow eats you to absorb your radiation. All the victims were undergoing radiation treatments when they were killed. Astrid is freaked out and says she’s not going to sleep for weeks, at which Walter smiles.
A nurse walks through a very dark hospital hallway and finds another nurse/doctor working at her computer. Seriously, you’d think they’d want better lighting in there now that a murderer shadow man is wandering around. The lights go off all of a sudden and the first nurse says she’ll check on the patients. She’s checking the beds when she sees Koslov and asks him what he’s doing there since it’s not time for his shift yet. He says he wishes she hadn’t seen him, and he’s holding a syringe behind his back. This is going to end well, I’m sure. Agent Broyles and Olivia come in and ask if all the patients are accounted for. A nurse says that they are, except for Maxine, who had just gone in there a minute ago. It turns out Koslov’s brother is gone and Maxine is now occupying his bed. Somewhere else, Koslov is already driving his comatose brother down a road.
